Greek Honey Garlic Shrimp

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons Greek olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried Greek oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon sumac optional, for a tangy flavor
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)
  • Kalamata olives pitted (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Shrimp:

  • Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together honey, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, oregano,
  • sumac (if using), salt, and pepper.

Marinate the Shrimp:

  • Place the shrimp in a large bowl and pour the honey garlic sauce over them.
  • Toss to coat evenly.
  • Let the shrimp marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

Cook the Shrimp:

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the shrimp from the
  • marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off.
  • Cook the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes per side, until they turn pink and are cooked through.

Serve:

  • Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with pitted Kalamata olives on the side, if desired.
  • Traditionally, this dish pairs well with a side of roasted vegetables or a simple Greek salad.

For an added Greek touch, serve with a side of warm pita bread or over a bed
of fluffy Greek rice.
If you prefer a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the
marinade.
