Million Dollar Pastitsio

Ingredients

  • 2/3 pound package bucatini
  • 2/3 pound ground meat
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 red onion chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 ½ + 3/4 cups canned chopped tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup anthotyro or ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup crumbled Greek feta
  • 2 cups shredded kasseri cheese
  • 2/3 cup haloumi

Instructions

  • Cook the ground meat in a pan with olive oil until browned. Add onion and garlic, then stir in most of the canned tomatoes. Simmer until thickened.
  • Cook pasta according to package directions. Mix with butter and some of the canned tomatoes.
  • Combine cream cheese, yogurt, feta, and anthotyro for the cheese layer.
  • Assemble the dish by layering pasta, cheese mixture, and meat sauce in a baking dish. Top with kasseri and haloumi cheese. Bake at 350°F for 30-40 minutes.
