Welcome to My Greek Table — my public television series exploring Greek food and culture from island villages to mountain hamlets to the mainland. This season I visit a few of Greece’s cities, including Thessaloniki, to to explore its Sephardic past, and Ioannina, for its renowned baklava, savory pies baked in embers and mountain meat specialties, and, of course Athens. In the Greek capital, I cook with the father of modern Greek cuisine, Lefteris Lazarou, explore my adopted neighborhood, savor the overlap between art and food with my daughter Kyveli and a circle of young Athenian artists. Finally, I host a dinner party for friends in my downtown Athens apartment.
