Mastiha & Tsipouro Cocktail

TIP: Tsipouro was firstly produced by the Mount Athos monks in the 14th century, and then its production and use were spread throughout Greece. Tsipouro is distilled a number of times in order to enrich its flavor. If you do not like the stong smell and flavour of anise seed -that gives tsipouro a unique, rooty flavor- you have the option to find tsipouro without it, which in fact is considered the original tsipouro. Anise is added to the tsipouro only in northern Greece.

Ingredients
  

  • 40 ml mastiha liqueur
  • 20 ml tsipouro
  • 20-30 ml cucumber juice
  • 10 ml lime juice
  • 5-10 ml Greek thyme honey
  • 4 ice cubes and more for serving if desired
  • 1-2 thin cucumber slices lengthwise for garnish
  • Fresh oregano for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a shaker lightly mix the cucumber and lime juice with the honey.
  • Add the tsipouro and mastiha liquor and the ice cubes and shake very well/
  • Pour in a Martini glass and enjoy!
